What is this? The Chameleon Readers is a reader pen that allows users to make personal recordings. By placing a sticker on a page, pressing the reader pen to the page, and recording yourself speaking (or singing), the reader pen later allows the user to play back those personal recordings. This instantaneously enables personalized audiobooks, sing-alongs, and flashcards.
One of my friends introduced me to the Chameleon Reader pen, and my mind was blown away by the genius and wide application of this tool!
- Audiobook – This tool turns any book into an audiobook by using stickers and reader pen to record a person talking and then recording the sound into the sticker/pen.
- Memory Keepsake – As somebody who thinks about the importance of family and togetherness, the idea of being about to record my parents’ voices into an audiobook struck me as wonderful gift to pass on my child.
- Multiple Languages – The sticker and reading pen allows up to four language per book. If you have a bilingual book or even want to read Chinese in different dialects, one can instantly see how useful this feature is!
- Multiple Scenarios – Because the recording is done through their stickers/pen, it allows users to have various scenarios that’s only limited by your imagination (e.g. flashcards, interactive poster, singing birthday cards, etc.)
The founder of the Chameleon Reader is a mother who moved from Taiwan to the Netherlands and started the concept/development of the product in 2011 and launched the Chameleon Reader product in 2019. As somebody from immigrant parents and supporter of women-owned business, the founder’s story struck a “Heck yeah, you go girl!” chord within me =)
And as a thrifty parent, the pricing of the Chameleon Starter (pictured below) set is currently priced at $129, which I personally think is a great price for what you get.
