Writer Decisions: As much as I love this line “不 能 洗 澎 澎 can’t take a bath”, it might have to be removed in the hardcover book version in the future. The term “澎 澎 pēng péng” is only used in Taiwan and not Mainland China. In the same manner that British English and American English use different words to explain the same object/action, Mandarin Chinese has evolved in the same manner as well. But despite knowing this, I couldn’t resist making this panel come to life. Since I envision Lè Sè Lóng as a character with feline features, the longing of taking a bath seems very appropriate for their personality.
Art Inspiration: Probably my child. We don’t have a bath readily available for her to use. So whenever she has an option to splash around, whether it’s a pool or a bath, there’s that look of joy that lights up her face every time.
