Karaoke Game
While trying to teach my child and her friend how to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” in Chinese, I thought an interactive Karaoke and quiz game could help them out. It provides the user to switch between Simplified, Traditional Chinese, Zhuyin, and Pinyin along with audio. I do see the potential in this feature by adding more songs and figuring out how to get the audio better. But until other projects die down, this tool will have to just have one song for now.

Pinyin Zhuyin Tool
I had a hard time finding a Pinyin-to-Zhuyin app for those trying to learn both systems at the same time. While I love KidsEdu Studio Zhuyin app, which incorporates writing, games, quizzes, and drawing in a way that is colorful, fun, and engaging manner for kids, the app didn’t provide combination vowels—just the 37 basic phonetic sounds. So I created a similar quiz and reference guide for both Pinyin and Zhuyin. I hope people find this useful!

Radical Quest:
My child is now of the age to move on from Pinyin and Zhuyin. So I figured the next step on the learning journey would be to start memorizing the Chinese Radicals. As somebody who learned Chinese in college, I’ve often wondered why my professors didn’t make us students learn radicals. It seemed like it would help students memorize Chinese characters since radicals often provides readers a clue of the meaning behind the words. For example, the animal radical 犭will often show up in animal Chinese characters. Based on that experience, I’m hoping this radical quiz game will help kids and parents learn the 214 radicals!
